ANDREAS SIMOPOULOS
Radiologist in Corfu
I was born in Corfu in 1979. I completed secondary education in Corfu in 1996. In October 2002 I graduated from the Medical School of University of Bucharest “Carol Davila” with grade 9,35/10 “Excellent”.
During the period 2004 – 2005 I performed rural service as a medical Doctor at the Velonades Regional Medical office-clinic, Agios Athanasios-Agros Health Center, Corfu.
At the end of 2005 I was appointed to the Athens Children’s Hospital “P.&A. Kyriakou”, where I started the specialty of Diagnostic Radiology and specialized in Pediatric Radiology until 2008.
Postgraduate Studies in Interventional Radiology
In 2007-2009 I studied at the Postgraduate Studies Program “Interventional Radiology” of the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, a two-year program, and obtained a Master of Science in Medicine (MASTER-M.Sc.) in “Interventional Radiology” with grade 8,5/10 “Excellent”.
In 2008, as part of my postgraduate medical studies, I was employed as a Research Fellow -Scientific Associate of the Radiology and Medical Imaging Research Unit of the Kapodistrian University of Athens, at the “Eugenideio” Hospital of Athens.
Military Service
From late 2008 to 2009 I served my military service in the Greek Navy, as a Medical Doctor-Internal Assistant in the Radiology Department of the Naval Hospital of Crete and the Naval Hospital of Athens.
Completion of Specialty
In October 2010, I was appointed to the Athens General Hospital “EVAGGELISMOS”, where I completed my residency in DiagnosticRadiology in early 2014.
Professional Activity in Corfu
As a specialist Radiologist, I returned to Corfu in mid-2014 and took over the radiology clinic which my father Dimosthenis Simopoulos, a Radiologist, created 34 years ago (in 1979).
A complete building renovation and renewal of the clinic’s equipment with state-of-the-art medical equipment was carried out, with the aim of providing personalized, high-level specialized medical services in the field of Radiology, and especially in the field of Pediatric Radiology.
Professional Awards and Participations
I am a member of the European Society of Paediatric Radiology and holder of the European Diplomas in Paediatric Radiology:
- in Abdominal Imaging (ECPR 2019),
- Paediatric Musculoskeletal Imaging (ECPR 2021),
- Paediatric Chest, Heart and Neck Imaging (ECPR 2022),
- as well as in Pediatric Neuroradiology (ECPNR 2022) of the European Board of Neuroradiology (EBNR), after participating in the courses and passing the corresponding written exams.
I am also a member of the Hellenic Radiological Society and the Corfu Medical Association.
